Oil painting

Here is a selection of progressive photos showing the stages of my first well equipped attempt at oil painting! Despite doing a lot of nature orientated mixed media work, I never thought that painting a collection of branches and logs could be so engaging.

Large scale skills

A1 potrait and hand drawing in pencil! I must admit that drawing on a large scale is diffucult, but the skill is very valuable,

Some wolf pottery!

Here is some wolf pottery! And a small leave cluster for a friend.

The latest accidents:

If I'm completely honest, I have no idea what went wrong. Perhapse I used the wrong glaze? Perhapse glaze and glass don't go too well together if they mix? I suspect I will never know what's happened to these pots, but I will definantly start writing the glaze numbers on the base of my pots so it's easier to double check what Tempreature they need firing at!

Original sketches

Here is a prototype for an original sketch project im planning on starting up! Id like to do some wolf sketches in pencil, biro and fine liner which can be mounted and displaced in these smart, collectable glass frames!

The wolf

The wolf has been a key figure throughout my artwork and its symbolism has played a huge part in the development of my own artistic veiws. The wolf is a keystone species that is capable to adapting to most climates. It's the wolfs ability to adapt and evolve to suit different environments that first encouraged me to experement with new materials and evolve as an artist. Thanks to the imagery of the wolf, I have managed to progress from traditional skills to 3D experementation and printing. Here is a little pencil sketch dedicated to the wolf.

An interesting result

These two survived the kiln, however the Insense holder buckled and the small candle holder resembles a piece of burnt toast. Looks like I have some mysteries to solve before I go back onto the studio!

The glaze

Ive just finished glazing these two beauties! Hover I thought I'd try soe thing alittle different. Insead of leaving the glass smooth, I ruffed it up with a nail brish to get the coloured well mixed. I know the glazes may not mix together, but it's worth a shot!

The new arrivals

Hear are my two most recent creations! They have survived the first firing and I'm going to glaze them today. Can anyone guess what they are supposed to be?

The pots have survived the kiln!

The pots have been glazed and survived the Kiln! There are some lovely effects it's the Amber brown and the gloss white glaze. The glass in the bottom of two of the pots has crazed alittle but it all adds to the effect!

Who remembers these?

Who remembers my wolf ornaments? Looks like this ones got alittle break. I think it's about time I make some more!

Glazed pots!

I have finally got round to glazing and adding glass to my pots. Ive been working closely with the dipglazes and Im electing a great deal of unpredictable results. Never the less, I'm excited to see them once they are fired!

Castle ruins

For those of you who love my 3D work: a set of three clay castle ruins! These were made using air dry clay. I then painted the clay with acrylic and sealed it with PVA.

Which one is your favorite?

Snail sketches

Ive been passing some time in the garden and ive found myself interacting with the wildlife. The snails have caught my attention. Ive been watching them closely and observing the markings on their shells. They are interesting little creatures!
